Frequently Asked Questions
- You need two measurements: Band size โ measure around your ribcage directly under your bust (keep the tape snug and level). Bust size โ measure around the fullest part of your chest. The difference between bust and band determines your cup size.
- Cup size = Bust measurement โ Band measurement. 1 inch = A, 2 inches = B, 3 inches = C, 4 inches = D, 5 inches = DD/E, 6 inches = DDD/F. This is the standard US/UK calculation method.
- Measure under your bust in inches. If the result is even, that's your band size. If odd, round up to the next even number. Example: 31 inches โ size 32 band. Some fitters add 4 inches to the measurement instead โ both methods are used depending on the brand.
- Sister sizes are bra sizes with the same cup volume but different band/cup combinations. If your 34C doesn't fit right, try 32D (smaller band, larger cup) or 36B (larger band, smaller cup). The cup volume stays the same across sister sizes.
- There is no universal sizing standard. European, UK, US, and French sizing all differ. A UK 34C = US 34C, but European sizes use cm-based numbers. Always try bras on or check the brand's specific size chart, as sizing can vary 1โ2 cup sizes between manufacturers.
- Signs of a good fit: band is level and stays in place (shouldn't ride up), wires lie flat against your ribcage (not floating or digging), cups are smooth (no spillage or gaping), straps don't slip or dig. The band provides 80% of the support โ most people wear too large a band and too small a cup.
- Some brands offer half-cup increments (e.g., AA, DD, DDD). If you're between sizes, go up in cup size rather than squeezing โ spillage and discomfort worsen with too-small cups, while a slightly larger cup with an adjustment is manageable.
